Sp. Jones et al., Short-term exercise training improves body composition and hyperlipidaemiain HIV-positive individuals with lipodystrophy, AIDS, 15(15), 2001, pp. 2049-2051
Exercise/physical activity is increasingly being advocated as a positive ad
dition to the treatment regimen of HIV-positive individuals. We investigate
d the effects of 10 weeks' aerobic and resistance training on individuals w
ith HIV-related lipodystrophy. These individuals demonstrated an improvemen
t in exercise tolerance, body composition and blood lipid profiles. Potenti
ally, such changes may contribute to an amelioration of some of the adverse
metabolic effects associated with highly active antiretroviral therapy.
