Abstract
The study is the part of the major project entitled "Poetics of the Literar y Work". It dwells on the narration in the "he-form" (the third person). It observes its types and possibilities both in the literary theory (Wayne C. Booth, Jean Pouillon, Franz K. Stanzel), in the prose of the 19th century (Stendhal, Gustav Flaubert) and mainly in the Czech prose of the 20th centu ry (Frana Sramek, Josef and Karel Capeks, Ivan Olbracht, Ladislav Fuks).
