Abstract
The reaction of [o-(trimethylsilyl)carboranyl]lithium with IPh(OAc)(2) in d iethyl ether affords an efficient 1,2-dehydro-o-carborane precursor 4: the facile 2 + 4 cycloaddition of 4 with dienes in the presence of the desilyla ting agent is reported.
