Abstract
Our previous suggestion for atomic data storage is tested using an improved model. Namely, a carbon nanotube is added to the tip and size of the clust er model used to simulate the surface is expanded. The ONIOM approach makes these tests possible. The tip-surface distances and interaction energies a re found to be relatively insensitive to the model used. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
