Abstract
This paper reviews the rationale and objectives of the recently formed Cana dian Mining Education Council (CMEC). This initiative aims to promote netwo rking within Canada's mining schools, as well as with industry, government and communities. CMEC is developing a strategic vision for collaboration in education, research and technology development. This is reviewed in the co ntext of many changes facing Canada's mineral resources industry in both a national and global context.
