Abstract
One of the most striking points of the so-called Logical Positivism is the criticism it provides of metaphysics. from this point of view, Moritz Schli ck's contribution is really crucial. Starting from a neo-Kantian background , he moved progressively to a new kind of critique of metaphysics, under Wi ttgenstein's influence. The core of this criticism in its ultimate form is the idea that philosophy is an activity, and not a doctrine. It is a positi on to which special attention is called for nowadays, in facing the so-call ed return of metaphysics in what is named Analytic Philosophy.
