Abstract
The complex tributyltin 4-pyridinecarboxy late has been synthesized by the reaction of tributyltin chloride with sodium 4-pyridinecarboxylate in benze ne and characterized by IR, H-1 NMR, elemental analyses, MS and X-ray struc tural analyses. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c, with a=9. 6673 (14), b=23.845 (4), c=9.7071 (14) Angstrom; beta =112.463 (3)degrees; V=2067.9(5) Angstrom (3), Z=4, Dc=1.324 Mg m(-3), mu =1.242 mm(-1), F(000)= 848, R-1=0.0544, WR2=0.1411. In the crystals, the tin atoms are rendered fi ve-coordinate in a trigonal bipyramidal structure by coordinating with 4-py ridinylcarboxlate group. The resulting structure is a linear polymer contai ning Sn-O and Sn-N bonds whose lengths are 2.170 (5) Angstrom and 2.60 (2) Angstrom, respectively.
