Abstract
Observation of surgical personnel in four specialties (cardiothoracic, gene ral, gynecologic, and orthopedic) in the operating room was performed prior to implementation of an educational intervention designed to improve compl iance with Universal Precautions and at 1- and 2-years post-intervention. U se of protective eyewear and double gloving increased following the interve ntion, whereas the incidence of documented blood and body fluid exposures d ecreased (Infect Control Hosp Epidemiol 2001;22:522-524).
