Abstract
This paper describes the design of a microcontroller-based passive standby Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), where the student applies a top-down sy stems approach to produce a working system. Such a project involves hardwar e-software co-design for realizing the relatively large number of detection , protection and control functions within the UPS.
