An evolutionary line of the Macrobiotinae (Tardigrada, Macrobiotidae): Calcarobiotus and related species

Three species of Macrobiotus (M. gildae, M. polygonatus and M. eugranulatus ) were re-examined. Based on their synapomorphies with Calcarobiotus, they are ascribed to that genus. Within Calcarobiouts two phyletic lines are det ected on the basis of the claw morphology. Therefore a new subgenus is erec ted: Calcarobiotus (Discrepunguis) subgen. n. constituted by C. (D.) polygo natus comb. n., and C. (D.) eugranulatus comb. n.; the subgenus Calcarobiot us (Calcarobiotus) includes C (C) filmeri, C. (C) occultus, C. (C.) imperia lis and C. (C.) gildae comb. n.
