Abstract
The ferromagnetic transition temperature and the oxygen isotope effect in the doped manganites are evaluated using a model based on the dyna mic Jahn-Teller effect on the bridging oxygen ion (the ion between Mn3 + and Mn4+). The diabatic representation is used to estimate the hoppi ng time of the extra electron in the double exchange model. The transi tion temperature depends strongly on the Franck-Condon factor and, the refore, on the oxygen mass.
