Abstract
Principal components analyses on the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situati ons (CISS; Endler & Parker, 1990a) were carried out for 730 Scottish doctor s and farmers. Endler and Parker's three-factor structure was supported bot h in the male and female subgroups and in the two occupational groups. Inte rcorrelations of the CISS factors with personality factors of the NEO-Five Factor Inventory and a self-reported psychological distress scale, the Gene ral Health Questionaire-28, provided predictive validity for the CISS in th e transactional model of stress.
