Ch. Xiao et al., Application of the polysilicone fullerene coating for solid-phase microextraction in the determination of semi-volatile compounds, J CHROMAT A, 927(1-2), 2001, pp. 121-130
Solid-phase microextraction using polysilicone fullerene (PF) coating has b
een applied for the determination of semi-volatile compounds. Detection lim
its at the 10 ng l(-1) similar to mug l(-1) level were achieved using flame
ionization wide linear range was obtained with precision below 7% relative
standard deviation. Parameters that affect the extraction process were inv
estigated, which included sampling time, desorption time, sampling temperat
ure, and salting out effect. Compared to the non-polar commercial polydimet
hylsiloxane (PDMS) coating, the PF coating has higher extraction efficiency
, better selectivity and greater sensitivity for aromatic compounds. The ex
perimental results revealed the thermal stability and life span are superio
r to commercially available PDMS. The PF coating has been demonstrated to p
ossess planarity molecular recognition. The theoretical study confirmed tha
t quantification is feasible under non-equilibrium conditions by use of the
PF coating. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
