A. Mclay et J. Lilley, THE ADVANTAGES OF ULTRASONIC TECHNIQUES AS AN AID TO CONDITION MONITORING OF INDUSTRIAL-PLANT, Insight, 36(6), 1994, pp. 441-444
Research and development in all aspects of pressure vessel technology
has progressed rapidly over the past 10 years. Materials and welding d
evelopments have been implemented in practice as these advances have d
emonstrable cost advantages. The implementation of non-destructive tes
ting has not kept pace with these advances despite the investment made
in technique development. This paper presents an overview of ultrason
ic technology available today and how it can be applied to demonstrate
fitness-for-purpose arguments within planned data management and cond
ition monitoring systems.
