Abstract
Reaction of mepirizole (M) with tin(IV) halide and dimethyltin(IV) dihalide compounds yielded complexes of types [SnX4(M)] and [SnMe2X2(M)] respective ly (X = Cl, Br) which were studied by vibrational, NMR and Mossbauer spectr oscopy. The structures of dichloro- and dibromodimethyl(mepirizole)tin(IV). determined by X-ray diffractometry, are isomorphous, the crystals of both compounds being monoclinic with very similar cell constants. In both compou nds the mepirizole ligand coordinates to the tin atom via the pyrimidinic a nd pyrazole N-atoms.
