Abstract
Large size and high quality single crystals of quasi-two-dimensional thalli um molybdenum purple bronze TIMo6O17 have been grown by electrolytic reduct ion of molten salt of Tl2CO3-MOO3. The crystal structure is trigonal with s pace group P-(3) over bar ml determined by X-ray diffraction and four-circl e single crystal diffraction. The lattice parameters of the unit cell are: a = b = 5.5282 Angstrom, and c = 13.6991 Angstrom. The temperature dependen ce of resistivity and magnetic susceptibility confirmed that a metal-to-met al transition occurs near 110 K. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
