Ferroelectric properties of a perfluoroalkyl substituted two-ring benzoate
doped with a chiral additive have been studied and compared with those of w
ell-known alkyl substituted benzoate. A study of weakly polar three-ring es
ter derivatives has revealed their applicability as the components of ferro
electric liquid crystal materials for display applications. The results of
this work are discussed in terms of the structure-property relationships.
