Abstract
Absolute photoionization cross sections for Ba, measured using a Mach-
Zender interferometer, are presented. The present value of the cross s
ection at the ionization threshold, 48.8 +/- 6.7 Mb, is in good agreem
ent with previous values. R-matrix calculations combined with MQDT tec
hniques have been carried out to analyse the spectra obtained. The lin
eshape parameters obtained from the experimental data on the resonance
lines are used to establish the identity of perturbing structure: the
perturber is identified as the 6p7s P-3(1) level via the present theo
retical calculations.
