Vv. Tirsky et al., Concerning the electromagnetic radiation spectrum of a hot plasma with Langmuir turbulence in a magnetic field, PHYS SCR, 64(4), 2001, pp. 353-359
We consider the process of generation of electromagnetic waves as a consequ
ence of the merging of two Langmuir plasmons. The case of a hot plasma in a
magnetic field is investigated. It is shown that under such conditions the
frequency of Langmuir plasmons can vary over the range from 0.8 to 1.1 of
the Langmuir frequency of electrons. The spectrum and polarization of elect
romagnetic radiation are analyzed. It is shown that allowance for the therm
al motion of plasma particles under the conditions involved permits electro
magnetic waves in the range from 1.6 to 2.2 of the Langmuir frequency of el
ectrons to be generated. The degree of circular polarization of the radiati
on can reach 50% even in the case of an isotropic spectrum of Langmuir turb
ulence.
