K-L ->pi(0) gamma gamma and the bound on the CP-conserving K-L ->pi(0)e(+)e(-) - art. no. 094008

It has been known for many years that there is a CP-conserving component fo r the decay mode K-L -->pi (o) e(+) e(-) and that its magnitude can be obta ined from a measurement of the amplitudes in the K-L--> pi (o) gamma gamma decay mode. We point out that the usual description of the latter in terms of a single parameter a(v) is not sufficient to extract the former in a mod el independent manner. We further show that there exist known physics contr ibutions to K-L --> pi (o) gamma gamma that cannot be described in terms of the single parameter a(v). We conclude that a model independent analysis r equires the experimental extraction of three parameters.
