F. Maltoni et al., Associated production of the Higgs boson and a single top quark at hadron colliders - art. no. 094023, PHYS REV D, 6409(9), 2001, pp. 4023
We study the production of the Higgs boson in association with a single top
quark at hadron colliders. The cross sections for the three production pro
cesses (t channel, s channel, and W associated) at both the Fermilab Tevatr
on and the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are presented. We investigate t
he possibility of detecting a signal for the largest of these processes, th
e t-channel process at the LHC, via the Higgs boson decay into b (b) over b
ar. The QCD backgrounds are large and difficult to curb, hindering the extr
action of the signal. Extensions of our analysis to the production of super
symmetric Higgs bosons are also addressed. The cross section is enhanced fo
r large values of tan beta, increasing the prospects for extracting a signa
l.
