Gm. Florianovich et Ii. Reformatskaya, Passivating and repassivating metals to prevent their corrosion destruction, PROT MET R, 37(5), 2001, pp. 479-483
During the life, a person uses numerous natural phenomena and processes, wh
ich facilitate the being. However, there should always be someone in the Hi
story who did this for the first time, who succeeded in overcoming the diff
iculties which were beyond the power of others. A person who is ready to de
vote all the life to apprehending the mysteries of the nature and who is ab
le to discover them becomes a leading scientist. In the sphere of protectin
g more and more deficient metallic materials against corrosion, it was acad
emician Ya.M. Kolotyrkin who became such a scientist in the XXth century. H
is works in this field are many-sided, but of an especially high importance
are those which deal with the problem of passivation of metals as one of t
he most efficient ways of corrosion protection. Our report concerns these w
orks.
