Abstract
In this paper an unsteady lubricating model of inlet zone in metal rolling has been established. The simulation computations show that for the variati on amplitude of the inlet film thickness, the variation of the inlet angle contributes the largest, the surface mean speed the second and the back ten sion stress the least. The higher the input frequency, the smaller the ampl itude output of the inlet film thickness would be. For a sinusoidal input, the inlet film thickness varies periodically but is not a sine wave because the system is not linear.
