Abstract
Tribological properties of Meso-carbon Microbeads (MCMB) powders as a speci al additive in pentaerythritol were investigated on an Optimal SRV tribotes ter at 300 degreesC. The coarsely dispersed lubricant system demonstrates f ine lubricious effectiveness at the operation temperature. The friction coe fficient dropped from 0.2 to circa 0.12 in the presence of MCMB in pentaery thritol for the No.45 carbon steel tribomate. Raman spectroscopy analysis i ndicated the partial transformation of MCMB into increased ordered structur es that contributed to the lowering of friction.
