Abstract
Laser powder alloying is widely used for tribological applications. As one of the key parameters, absorptivity of powder materials to laser plays an i mportant role in the processing. The measurement of laser absorptivity is e ssential for absorptivity research. In present work, lumped method based on heat transfer is established for laser absorptivity measurement. The absor ptivity of some powder materials as Cu, Fe, Al, NiO, Al2O3, ZrO2, SiC, to Y AG laser, are investigated. The results show that the absorptivity of powde r materials to YAG laser is generally larger than that of bulk materials.
