Hg doping of the triple-CuO2 layer oxide superconductor T2-xHgxBa2Ca2C
u3O10 (Tl-2223) is investigated. Modest substitution of Hg2+ ions for
Tl3+ ions leads to the stabilization of the Tl-2223 structure and an a
pparently optimized superconducting onset temperature T-c=130 K. The s
ituation is reminiscent of partial Bi ions replacement by Pb ions in t
he lower-T-c Bi based oxide superconductors. Overdoping with Hg in Tl-
2223 leads again to a decrease in T-c.
