Tl. Zhang et al., Study on the molecular recognition properties of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid-imprinted polymer and salicylic acid-imprinted polymer, ACT CHIM S, 59(10), 2001, pp. 1623-1627
A molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for 4 - hydroxybenzoic acid [ P(4 - H
BA)] was prepared using 4 - vinylpyridine (4 - Vpy) as a functional monomer
. Its molecular recognition mechanism was studied. And a comparison was mad
e to evaluate its molecular recognition ability with that of salicylic acid
- imprinted polymer E P(SA) I. The result shows that the molecular recogni
tion ability of P ( SA) is higher than that of P(4 - HBA). The reason is th
at SA is stronger than 4 - HBA in acidity and SA can form a more stable com
plex with 4 - Vpy, which makes P(SA) have a higher molecular recognition ab
ility. This study confirms that it is a prerequisite that the template shou
ld form a stable complex with the functional monomer in the preparation of
MIP in order to obtain a MIP with high molecular recognition ability. Furth
ermore, this study will be helpful for us to understand the mechanism of mo
lecular imprinting and molecular recognition of MIN. Also, it will be of in
structive significance for us to predict the selectivity of MIPs according
to the properties of templates.
