Xb. Yi et al., Investigations on the hydrolytic stability of polyphenyl-1, 3, 5-triazine in water at high temperature, ACT CHIM S, 59(10), 2001, pp. 1803-1808
Hydrolysis of polyphenyl-1, 3, 5-triazine and its model compound were condu
cted in water at 250 degreesC/3. 97 MPa. The results showed that polyphenyl
-1, 3, 5-triazine has outstanding heat and hydrolytic stability because no
notable changes were observed on the IR spectra. The major hydrolysates fro
m the polymer and model compound were aromatic carboxylic acids, which char
acterized by high performance liquid chromatography, high performance capil
lary electrophoresis, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer. Hydrolyt
ic mechanisms were also suggested on the basis of the experimental observat
ions. The high activation energy for the rate-dominative step predicted by
the semiempirical quantum chemistry method, PM3, well expounded the excelle
nt hydrolytic stability of polyphenyl-1, 3, 5-triazine.
