Abstract
The title complex, bis(acetylacetonato)diaquanickel(II) monohydrate, [Ni(C5 H7O2)(2)(H2O)2)].H2O, was easily synthesized in high yield by electrochemic al dissolution of nickel metal in an acetylacetone and ethanol solution via direct hydrolysis of the electrolyte solution at a temperature of 333 K. T he crystal structure shows octahedral coordination of nickel with two trans aqua ligands. An uncoordinated water molecule engages in hydrogen bonding.
