Abstract
In this prospective study of 110 patients, body weight was the only indepen
dent predictor of the transthoracic atrial defibrillation energy requiremen
t. This information is incorporated into an efficient new protocol that is
designed to maximize cardioversion efficacy, while minimizing the delivery
of unnecessary shocks.
