Abstract
A prospective study investigated the association of valvular aortic stenosi s with symptomatic peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in 989 men (mean age 8 0 +/- 8 years) and 1,998 women (mean age 81 +/- 8 years). Symptomatic PAD w as present in 68 of 141 men (30%) without aortic stenosis (p <0.0001), and in 125 of 321 women (39%) with aortic stenosis and in 383 of 1,677 women (2 3%) without aortic stenosis (p <0.0001).
