Abstract
We evaluated 100 consecutive older patients with at least mild aortic steno sis and found harmonic imaging to be superior to fundamental imaging for ao rtic valve planimetry. When clear images of the aortic valve cusps were pre sent, planimetry of the aortic valve area by transthoracic echocardiography was feasible and accurate.
