DNA METHYLATION AND PLANT DEVELOPMENT

The development of genetic tools to alter DNA methylation has led to a deeper understanding of the importance of DNA modification in the lif e strategies of different eukaryotic organisms. This review focuses on recent findings that demonstrate a role for cytosine methylation in t he development of higher plants. The effects of altering DNA modificat ion are considered in the context of unique aspects of plant developme nt.
