The borders of the Central High Atlas chain showed different structural sty
les, as revealed by the interpretation of recently acquired surface geology
and sub-surface data. Structures, characterizing thick and thin skin tecto
nics, are variable from west to east and from south to north, while both sh
ortening and deformation intensities decrease in the same directions. These
differences are essentially related to the attitude of inherited Hercynian
fault pattern and to the Mesozoic development of the Central High Atlas. (
