Abstract
Lower extremity ulcers can be challenging diagnostically and therapeuticall
y. This article provides an overview of the different kinds of lower extrem
ity wounds typically seen by the medical dermatologist. It also reviews new
treatment modalities, including topical growth factors and bioengineered s
kin. A team approach is emphasized.
