A novel algorithmic technique for reducing power and area consumption of th
e discrete bracelet transform, (DWT) on CMOS-based DSP architectures is pre
sented. The technique reduces power by combining the data-extension procedu
re into the lifting based DWT core. It is demonstrated that the nc v algori
thm can be used to obtain more than 50% reduction in the amount of memory r
equired, leading to significant reduction in area and po vcr.
