The results of precision electron diffraction study of electrostatic-p
otential distribution in an MnO crystal are presented. The potential d
istributions obtained are compared with the corresponding distribution
s calculated from the precision experimental X-ray data. The results o
f this comparison and the estimates of the statistical accuracy of the
potential-peak heights determination show that the methods used for s
pecimen preparation, electron diffraction measurements, and experiment
al data processing provide sufficiently high reliability of the electr
ostatic-potential distribution obtained from electron diffraction patt
erns of Mn crystals. The problems of higher accuracy and further devel
opment of the precision electron diffraction analysis are also discuss
ed.
