Abstract
The phase composition of carbon produced by detonation synthesis was studie d as a function of detonation conditions. The results demonstrate that, at an insufficient detonation power, the formation of diamonds may depend on t he nature of the electron hybridization in the carbon atoms of the explosiv e. If the cooling rate of the detonation products is not high enough, the d iamond yield may be notably reduced by amorphization.
