Abstract
Several new semifluorinated compounds and polymers modified with these groups were synthesized and investigated. The polymer supports for th ese mesomorphic groups were styrene-diene block copolymers in which th e semifluorinated groups were attached to a hydroxy-modified diene blo ck. The characteristics of the smectic phase formed and its effect on the self-ordering behavior of the block copolymers were examined.
