The influence of hydrodynamic processes in a surfactant-rich thin liquid la
yer (hypophase) on the absorption rate was studied experimentally using Wil
helmy - Langmuir balance. It was shown that absorption rate for carbon diox
ide in alkali solution is increased when interfacial area is varied. The me
chanisms responsible for the mass transfer improvement are related to the M
arangoni effects generated in this system.
