Abstract
LDA measurements of the local, axial and tangential components of the fluid velocity have been carried out in a Kenics static mixer. Two aqueous, non- Newtonian solutions have been used in the laminar flow regime: 0.3% w/w CMC for Re=10, 40 and 160, and 0.1% CMC for Re=640. The velocity profiles in s everal cross-sections of a mixing insert have been determined and analysed. An extensive database for validation of CFD modelling has been obtained.
