The magnetic method based on along-section variations in scalar magnetic pa
rameters of rocks is applied to the reconstruction of the paleoclimate exis
ting during the deposition of sediments in the Kudaro-1 (K1) and Kudaro-3 (
K3) caves in South Ossetia, Georgia. The resulting reconstruction suggests
the K1 layers studied are 100-150 kyr younger than those in the K1 cave. Th
e Acheulian population of the caves is shown to have been nonuniform. A rec
ord of an Early Pleistocene geomagnetic excursion (tentatively, Elunino 7)
is discovered in K3 layer 9.
