U. Platt et G. Lebras, INFLUENCE OF DMS ON THE O-X-NOY PARTITIONING AND THE NOX DISTRIBUTIONIN THE MARINE BACKGROUND ATMOSPHERE, Geophysical research letters, 24(15), 1997, pp. 1935-1938
Recent investigations of the NO3 - DMS reaction showed that HNO3 is th
e dominant nitrogen product. It is argued that this finding can have i
mplications on the NOx - HNO3/nitrate partitioning, in particular lowe
ring the NOx (= NO + NO2) concentrations in the remote marine boundary
layer. Since there ozone formation is NOx limited, biogenic DMS sourc
es may influence the ozone production on a global scale.
