Tj. Murdock et Bj. Kushner, Anterior segment ischemia after surgery on 2 vertical rectus muscles augmented with lateral fixation sutures, J AAPOS, 5(5), 2001, pp. 323-324
Anterior segment ischemia is a rare but potentially serious complication of
strabismus surgery. Anterior ischemia typically occurs after surgery on 3
or 4 rectus muscles. Advanced age, dysthyroid ophthalmopathy, and a history
of previous strabismus surgery are known risk factors for this complicatio
n. This report reviews the case of a healthy 50-year-old patient who develo
ped anterior segment ischemia after surgery on 2 rectus muscles.
