Abstract
Leonard & Suggs (1974) established Exserohilum for species of Helminth osporium in which the conidial hilum was strongly protuberant. Twenty species of Exserohilum were included by Sivanesan (1987) in his monogr aph and since then five new species (Alcorn, 1988, 1991; Del Serrone, Porta-Puglia & Sivanesan, 1991; Sivanesan, 1992; Sivanesan, Abdullah & Abbas, 1993) have been described and one new combination (Upadhyay & Mankau, 1991) has been proposed. Alcorn (1991) transferred Exserohilum heteropogonicola Sivan. to Curoularia heteropogonicola (Sivan.) Alcom . Alcorn also placed E. paspali J. T. Muchovej & Nesio as a synonym of Bipolaris micropus (Drechsler) Shoemaker. Seven Exserohilum species h ave been connected to Setosphaeria teleomorphs (Sivanesan, 1987). A fu rther new species, E. longisporum, is described and illustrated based on distinctive characters of conidial morphology.
