Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) can be transmitted through human growth hor
mone or gonadotrophin administration, dura mater or cornea transplantation,
depth EEG monitoring and the use of contaminated neurosurgical instruments
. We describe the first two dura mater associated CID cases in the Netherla
nds. Ten and fourteen years before the onset of symptoms both patients rece
ived a Lyodura implantation. Findings are discussed in light of the growing
epidemic of CID among dura mater recipients.
