Postinfarction left ventricular remodeling: The scope of beta-blockers

Postinfarction left ventricular remodeling is considered to be the main fac tor leading to congestive heart failure in survivors of acute myocardial in farction. This process, which is commonly associated with poor prognosis, c an be slowed down or even prevented with the help of a certain drug therapy . The current opinion is that we can successfully use not only ACE inhibito rs, but also beta-blockers to treat left ventricular remodeling. The paper reviews recent data on pathogenesis of postinfarction left ventricular remo deling and the use of beta-blocker for its treatment and prevention.
