Ev. Pestryakov et al., Be3Al2Si6O18 crystals doped with Jahn-Teller ions: A promising active media for superbroadband lasers, LASER PHYS, 11(10), 2001, pp. 1138-1141
The crystals Be3Al2(SiO3)(6) doped with Ti3+ and Mn3+ ions were grown. The
absorption and fluorescence spectra of impurity ions are reported and the t
emperature dependence of the fluorescence lifetime are described. The resul
ts of spectroscopic measurements show that the broadening of emission and a
bsorption bands of this ions are interpreted as due to a Jahn-Teller effect
in an excited and ground states of impurity ions. The laser properties the
se ions were calculated. The investigations show the promising of using the
vibronic transitions between orbital degenerate electronic levels at the s
trong influence of the Jahn-Teller effect for creature superbroad bands of
stimulated emission.
