M. Takata et al., Switching characteristics of hybrid aligned ferroelectric liquid crystals under horizontal electric field, MOLEC CRYST, 367, 2001, pp. 3613-3620
Switching characteristics of ferroelectric liquid crystals under horizontal
electric field have been investigated. In order to stabilize a single doma
in state, hybrid alignment was employed. In order to reduce a hysteresis in
transmittance versus voltage characteristics, short-pitch ferroelectric li
quid crystal materials were useful. Obtained contrast ratio was 10:1. Optic
al response showed mono-stable behavior and transmittance rise and fall tim
es were 220 and 150 mus, respectively.
