Abstract
Fibronectin (FN) is a glycoprotein component of connenctive tissue. It is i nvolved in cancer progression. FN plays a role in non-neoplasmatic lung pat hology in which fibronectin gene polymorphisms (RFLPs) have been studied. T he aim of our work was to evaluate the frequency of two of fibronectin RFI- Ps: genotypes AB, AA, BB (HaeIII) and CD, CC, DD (MspI) in patients with lu ng cancer. The studied group consisted of 63 patients with squamous cell lu ng cancer and 53 controls without any malignant or proliferative disease. T here were no statistically significant differences in the distribution of s tudied genotypes between lung cancer patients and controls.
